Device Tracker is an offline radio frequency (RF) utility and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) peripheral discovery application developed and published by Osquare Apps.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Device Tracker is designed with a local-first architecture, meaning that information processed by the application is intended to remain on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Our privacy principles

  • No cloud transmission: Device Tracker does not transmit application data to our servers or operate a cloud database for user data.

  • No account required: You do not need to create an account or register to use the application.

  • No advertising trackers: Device Tracker does not use third-party advertising SDKs or behavioral tracking frameworks.

  • Local processing: Bluetooth discovery and proximity-related processing are performed on your device.

2. Permissions

Device Tracker requests permissions that are necessary for its Bluetooth and device-discovery functionality.

A. Bluetooth Permissions — Android 12 and newer

android.permission.BLUETOOTH_SCAN

This permission is used to discover nearby Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices and receive Bluetooth advertising information.

Where applicable, the application may declare the Android neverForLocation permission flag. This indicates that the application does not use Bluetooth scanning to derive the user's physical location.

android.permission.BLUETOOTH_CONNECT

This permission may be required to communicate with or retrieve information from compatible Bluetooth devices and to interact with the device's Bluetooth adapter.

B. Location Permission — Older Android Versions

On certain older Android versions, Bluetooth Low Energy scanning was associated with the Android Location permission system.

If Device Tracker requests location permission on such versions, the permission is used to enable Bluetooth scanning functionality required by the application.

Device Tracker does not intentionally use GPS, cell-tower positioning, or network-based location services to determine your physical location.

C. Vibration

This permission is used to provide haptic feedback during proximity or Finder Mode features.

D. Audio

Device Tracker may use Android audio output to play notification or proximity tones.

The application does not require microphone access and does not request the RECORD_AUDIO permission.

3. Information Processed by the Application

Depending on the features you use, Device Tracker may process Bluetooth-related information locally on your device, such as:

  • Bluetooth device identifiers or platform-provided identifiers

  • Advertised Bluetooth device names

  • Manufacturer-specific Bluetooth advertising information

  • Bluetooth signal strength (RSSI)

  • Signal-strength measurements used for proximity feedback

  • User-created device names, nicknames, or favorites

  • Application preferences such as sound, vibration, and scan settings

This information is processed for the functionality of the application.

Device Tracker does not intentionally transmit this information to Osquare Apps or to a remote server.

4. Local Storage and Data Retention

Information generated by the application may be stored locally on your Android device.

The application may retain information such as discovered devices, scan information, user preferences, and other data necessary to provide its features.

Where applicable, Device Tracker may automatically remove older records to limit local storage usage.

You can use the application's available privacy and data-management controls to delete stored application data. You can also remove all application data by uninstalling the application or using Android's application storage controls.

5. Data Sharing

Osquare Apps does not sell, rent, or share your Device Tracker application data with third parties.

Device Tracker does not intentionally transmit your Bluetooth scan information, device records, or scan history to external servers.

If this changes in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

6. Internet and Network Usage

Device Tracker is designed to operate without sending your Bluetooth discovery information or scan history to a remote server.

The application does not require an account or a user profile.

If a future version introduces a feature that requires network communication, this Privacy Policy will be updated to explain what information is transmitted and why.

7. Children's Privacy

Device Tracker is a general-purpose utility application.

Osquare Apps does not knowingly collect personal information from children or other users through Device Tracker.

Because the application is designed to process Bluetooth-related information locally rather than collect user information on remote servers, we do not intentionally collect personal information from children.

8. Security

Device Tracker is designed to keep application data on the user's device rather than transmitting it to our servers.

Local application data is subject to the security protections provided by the Android operating system and the device on which the application is installed.

However, no software or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should keep their Android device protected with appropriate security measures.

9. Third-Party Services

Device Tracker does not intentionally integrate third-party advertising or behavioral tracking services.

The application may rely on Android operating-system APIs and services required for its functionality.
